Hertz Rent-a-Car has announced the expansion of its Global Electric Vehicle initiative to China, making Hertz the first rental agency to offer plug-in vehicles on three continents (North America, Europe and Asia).To make rental electric vehicles feasible in China, Hertz is taking a three-pronged approach:
- Hertz commenced an alliance with General Electric Industrial Solutions China to develop an infrastructure for electric vehicles.
- Hertz will participate in the China (Shanghai) International EV Pilot City to propel its electric vehicle rental program and to promote the benefits of electric transport.
- Hertz teamed with BYD, the China's largest automaker, to combine electrical vehicle sales and leasing as a mobility solution for government agencies.
